Maintaining silver hair + Shimmer Lights Shampoo review

miércoles, 5 de agosto de 2015

Silver and grey colors are extremely hard to mantain, and I do not want to go to the salon every two weeks to get my hair retouched, so I decided to try the Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo everyone raves about.

This is a purple shampoo designed to tone down brassiness on blonde and gray hair while shampooing away yellow. It also claims to refresh faded highlighter hair, to maintain and refresh cool, ash-toned hair color, leaving the hair shiny without residue.

You are supposed to use this as an everyday shampoo, and it also is recommended to wash it again after you first rinse it off, and leave it for 2-5 minutes, but I have seen many people on Youtube using this as a toner, by soaking your hair with it and leaving it for 20-30 minutes, this is what I did.

I got the biggest size (31.5 fl. oz.) at Sally Beauty Supply for $18.49. The amount of product you get for the prize is amazing, especially if you are going to use it not only as a shampoo, but also as a toner.

As you can see, in the Before picture (left), my ends were looking a little bit yellow, and on the After picture (right), they look grey again. Something I noticed is that my hair looks a little bit of a darker grey than before, but it doesn’t bother me. Also, I had two people in person, asking me if I did something else to my hair because it looked really grey.

Overall, I am really satisfied with the results. My hair doesn’t look salon-fresh and I still can see some yellow picking through, but it looks better than it was. I also noticed that it looks less frizzy, shinier, and less damaged, a big plus for me.

Now, I am looking forward to get the Shimmer Lights conditioner, and maybe do a review on it sometime later.

Thank you for reading!
